Baltimore, SRNT 2026. Another poster presentation and tobacco updates in the books. The presentations went well and the work felt solid. It’s always good to see Dr. Strong in person, those conversations just hit differently when face to face. Spent some time hanging out with Luan too, a recent UCSD MPH grad and co-author on the paper. Great talks and good to see him out there.
Stayed at the Inn on Henderson’s Wharf. No view to speak of, but it was quiet and the sleep was actually good, which is a win for a conference trip (and the staff were quite nice). Did a massive amount of walking. It felt good to just move and clear the head between sessions. The weather was overcast just about the entire time, more misty than drenching rain, but it fit the mood of the harbor. for the time of the year.
Managed to see a bit of the city between the science. Hit the aquarium, though honestly, it was way too pricey for what it was. Fort McHenry was much better, pretty neat to see the history up close. Also spent some time digging through record shops and took a boat ride around the harbor to see things from the water. Wish there had been more time to just wander.
All in all, a successful trip. Glad to be home and already with Ms. Lucky and looking forward to the next conference at SBM 2026 in Chicago. And of course, thinking about SRNT in San Francisco next year. Staying in the same time zone is going to be a perk if I get to go, no jet lag, just the science and networking. Home in SD, now back to it.
